Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
– Thomas A. Edison
He worked by day, And toiled by night.
He gave up play and some delight.
Dry books he read, New things to learn.
And forged ahead, Success to earn.
He plodded on with Faith and pluck,
And when he won, Men called it LUCK!

An inspiring message that reminds us of the importance of persistance even when it doesn’t look like “fun.” A good one for me to start off my New Year!
Happy New Year! Wishing you the best in all you do in 2012.
This is so true, Patricia. When I talk about the benefits of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, etc., countless people reply . . . BUT IT’s SO HARD.
Yup. But it’s worth it. After all, our freedom is at stake. 😀
Passion, Patience, Practice, and Perseverance . . . get us where we want to be.
I like that Nancy – 4 Ps! Very helpful – thanks.
Thank you more than I can say for this paean to WORK and FOCUS with one’s work. Don’t you just grind your teeth when you hear someone comment on someone else’s success, “Oh, that lucky dog!” Like THEY would be willing to put in that much dedication and self-denial!
I agree but it’s easy to think we are the only ones working hard and that everybody else is lucky – easy for me anyway – so I find it worthwhile to remind myself!
Yep… that is life, right? i still believe in luck and work… 🙂
Not to mention practice!
