vixytwix at stayoutofmyhead  –  has very kindly nominated me for a 7×7 Link Award.  Here’s a very good recent post of hers that you might enjoy – Stay Out Of My Head – You’re Not Making Me Go to Summer School

I am honoured vixytwix – thank you very much and I gratefully accept.

As I have said before, I think these awards are a good idea in that they are a source of encouragement – the thing about encouragement is that too much of it is never a problem and some – at the right moment – can be a life saver.  Apart from the encouragement aspect, these awards give us an opportunity to recommend other blogs, which in turn can make connections between people who might otherwise never have bumped into each other.

So – here we go…

These are the rules for the 7 x 7 Link Award.

1.  Share something about me that no one knows –

If nobody knows it then even I don’t, so can’t comply – sorry!

2.  Link 7 of my posts that I think are worthy –

OK – I’ve changed this part – instead of recommending my own posts I am going to combine rules  2 & 3 and put a link to a post I read recently that I particularly liked on the blogs of the people I nominate –

3.  Nominate 7 bloggers for this award and notify them –

OK – here I was spoiled for choice and I’m not just saying it – I could really and truly have doubled the number.  So, for this,  I chose the bloggers on the basis of reasonably recent posts that took my attention.  I have read lots and lots of other great posts by these people and others – here are just 8 (OK – I tweaked the rules there too) –

Love is the Answer – Gratitude and the Dance

Reflections From a Cloudy Mirror – What is Enough

Susserative Aspirations – No Pen No Paper

WorryWarts Guide to Weight Sex and Marriage – Eating My Words

The Heartbreak of Invention – The Lonely Heart’s Rebuttal (without exit music)

30 Years of Growing Pains – What My Mother Said Next

This Pedestrian Life – Closer or Further

Creative Conflict Wisdom – The Prisoner is Heir to the Child

I know the numbers are all wrong but notwithstanding that I hope you enjoy reading these posts – and blogs – as much as I have.

  1. Congrats on receiving the 7×7 Link award! So deserved! 🙂

This probably got lost in translation or something, but I posted a collective award acceptance post some time back here http://30yearsofgrowingpains.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/everyones-a-winner/
and there are several more awards (5 to be exact) waiting for you, should you chose to accept the challenge 😉

Thank you so much for the shout out! I feel very honored to have made the cut (and to be amongst such great company) – I will have to check out the other posts, that I’m not familiar with yet, later – Thanks for pointing me to some new reads – Always appreciated. 😉

Ah this grey morning is starting to look up – Thank you 🙂

    1. I am sorry I do remember that post but obviously didn’t read it properly (one of my many faults – I often scan read). I wasn’t expecting to see anything about myself either so I didn’t notice it. What I realise now is that you have already been awarded with this award so – sorry about that as well.
On the other hand thank you so much for the awards – how kind of you!

      1. Ah, as I like to say “You can never have enough shiny badges or shiny shoes” 😉

Seriously I’m grateful for every award someone wishes to bestow on me – It really does mean a lot to me, if someone finds it fit to recognize it, so there is no need to apologize. I really do thank you for this!

Especially since it involves a post which (for obvious reasons) is very dear to my heart – so thank you, sincerly 😀

  3. Thank you! I feel honored to be included in this list of great blogs (and wonderful people). I have sent many, many of your posts to friends, family, Facebook, and former coworkers (educators – I didn’t really intend to use alliteration that sentence). I hope you will choose a two or three of your favorite posts (on CR) to contribute to my YRU Saying This? page. I love reading the posts bloggers are most proud of or hold dear to their hearts.
    Thanks again!

  5. Thank you so much for the inclusion in your recommendations I have only recently come to your blog, but I am glad I did. You are so right in saying that the awards are good for creating cyber-friends – it gives us the opportunity to share the wealth, thereby, ahem, “creating reciprocity! 😆

      1. You can get an animated one like mine by using the following “wordpress” code: 😆

That’s a colon/nospace/lol/nospace/colon It also helps to advance a couple of spaces from your sentence before you type that in. There is also the same setup for other faces. For embarrassed smile colonoopscolon which will give you this: 😳

There is “Mr Cool, colonmrcoolcolon, which is :mrcool:

And Mr. Green – colonmrgreencolon

A regular smile – non animated is colonsmilecolon 🙂

If I’ve remembered these right, then you will see the examples of them right after the code. ALso – remember, these codes do not work on non-WP sites, but othr sites have different codes – just google smiley codes. Cheers!

  7. I like that you’ve made this award work for you.
I feel bad because I have yet to acknowledge any of the awards I’ve gotten, and now seeing how I’m agreeing with the approach you’ve taken, and the one Kianys (30yearsofgrowingpains.wordpress.com) did with a “Spark” award, and the one that WorryWarts did… I think it’s probably time I let some light shine on the people’s blogs that I think would be interesting for others to read. It’s is difficult because I know the circle is pretty small around these parts and we’re starting to read each other more and more.

As for your choosing my post, well I’ll just leave it that I am surprised to be in the company of those others but I welcome their company and have much to learn from them… I know some of those specific posts very well, and the new people I don’t know? I am stunningly moved by their blogs. Thank you for sharing this. really. You’ve done what you intended and I’m now following four people I would never have known otherwise. 🙂

    1. Erik – as I said elsewhere I am a recent convert to the smiley face but have decided to try and make that work for me too and make extensive use of it to stop talking so much and use it to express the fact that I am actually smiling, so…
      🙂

  8. Congrats! Thanks for sharing some of your faves with us. If only we had more time to read all the wonderful blogs circulating around cyber space.
